Lifeskils Development provides small loans of $500 - $1000 to artisans and craftsmen in Nicaragua in support of start-ups and expansion of small businesses. Loans are used to purchase materials, pay for sales efforts or provide emergency funding in the event of illness. The micro-loan programs are also supported by donors. Our micro loan program is administered through our office in Nicaragua. In order to cover administrative and other costs, below market interest rates are charged to the borrower. As the fund expands, the loan program will expand to other small businesses but will continue in the same $500 to $1000 range for the foreseeable future.
